Eloïse Molinié
Originally coming from a small French village, I am now based in Toulouse as an independent artist.
After studying art and design in high school, I entered the renowned ENSAD art school in Paris (École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs).
My work in often described as large formats in which colors rival in liveliness. Just as inspired by Turner’s and Friedrich’s romanticism or by Odilon Redon’s symbolism, I am looking for a vibrant and sensitive painting.
My techniques are varied and in constant evolution : coatings applied by hand, glues or tainted varnishes… Painting is a matter of craftsmanship and intuition. I add, scrape, replace : the canvas in alive. The various drafts of make it through to the finished work. A canvas is never thrown away or abandoned : it is along with the doubts and the discoveries, the successes and the accidents that it comes alive, therefore it shall keep with it all those marks.
For now three years, I specialize in sacred and religious art. During the summer of 2022, I had the opportunity of presenting a personal exhibition in the Saint-Sernin basilica in Toulouse, followed by a Way of the Cross during Lent of 2024. I continue on this path since, working on commissions for several religious orders ou parishes.
I simultaneously develop my own projects, in particular a series of painting inspired by the Song of Songs, as well as other symbolic works with no explicit religious character.
Through those demanding themes, more than ever all the techniques experimented over the years come together towards the expression of the transcendant nature of art.
